It’s the most wonderful time of the Year

Published by Clifford at 4:34 am under Business

Today is my annual reunion with Tax-Man.

Last year, I gave Quicken a shot to keep track of my finances.  That lasted roughly . . . 7 minutes.  It’s too complicated.  Google Docs is still my preferred expense/income tracker.

As I finished collecting my documents a thought occurred to me.

The first time I went to see Tax Man, I only had two or three documents.  Now a thick binder holds all my documents.  Between the mortgages, the loans, all my stock trades, multiple high interest accounts, bank accounts . . . some poor tree is in tree heaven thanks to all my papers.

My guess: my annual stack of papers will only grow.

At the end of the day, I’m thinking this is a good thing.  Four years ago, tax time was just with my W2.  These days, with these investments, this stack of papers is like a road map showing how far I have come in such a short period of time.

It’s also assured my taxes will become more and more complicated.

That’s alright.  It’s all part of the game.
