In the blocks

Forming my objectives, my goals for this year starts off with some simple house cleaning (or life cleaning) ideas.
Down-sizing my possessions
For someone who claims not to have a lot of stuff, I have a lot of stuff. In science, we learn that a gas expands to fill its container. When I lived in my one bedroom apartment, I only had a couch, table and bed. Living in a two bedroom house, this quickly expanded to include multiple dressers, a day bed, a desk, seating chairs. Then I lived in a three bedroom house which expanded more . . .
Here is where logic breaks down: one guy, living in a one bedroom house has three beds. Either I’m running a house of "ill repute" or I have to downsize.
For the moment, Chez Cliff will have to remain closed. However, "Clifford’s Discount Furniture Warehouse" is now open for business.
Down-Sizing: Paper/Electronic
My overall filing system has completely broken down. After several moves last year, the filing system became a collection of sticky notes. Receipts were stuffed into my pockets, only to find their way into the wash machine.
A strong candidate to assist me: My Mac. I’ve done some preliminary research and think I have a system to try out. Only upsides can be seen by doing this but the large downside however is the discipline to continue with a new system.
Surprising, "Blog" made it on my list to downsize. Not the writing aspect: I love that. However it is all the other items associated with it, such as including photos, which becomes a large chore and takes up a lot of time. Writing this post, it took me nearly as long to stitch the photos into the article as it did to write it. But I believe it is the method of which the information is conveyed.
More will be written (and seen) when I get these items cleaned out.
Psychologically these downsizing exercises are not being called "Resolutions". By definition, a new years resolution must be broken by March.
If you liked that post, then try these...

That’s exactly why I put very few pictures on my blog (although I should)–it simply takes too much time to find, edit, and upload them.
Good luck with the furniture sales! Sounds like Craigslist will come in handy!
Trisha, you’re absolutely correct. I know a simple act such as putting photos in an article can really augment what it is you’re trying to say. But stitching those photos in is a real pain. Typepad insists no HTML experience is necessary. I guess it’s not necessary if you aren’t trying to produce great looking articles.
