Home Depot Carpet

I’m beginning to like Home Depot.

Server:  And what would you like this evening Sir?
Clifford:  I’ll take some crow, medium rare.  And a side of mint jelly.
Server:  Excellent choice sir.

Wandering around aimlessly, I noticed a big sign which read "Home Depot Carpet with 72 hour Installation" and I thought "Why not ask?"

The bedroom needs to be carpeted.  It’s a small room.  Maybe 90 square feet.  But if HD could do it in 72 hours . . . that would be styling.  But the 72 hour installation only applies to their in-stock carpet.  Anything special order requires 3 to 4 weeks.

My only gripe was the $200 minimum order.  With my carpet selection, it came out to roughly $100 in material.  HD had to bump it up to $200 before they would do it.  Tack on labor and padding: roughly $340.

The helpful HD employee said the padding she gave me was their top of the line padding.  Resists walking, liquid, kryptonite.  She reduced it to their next highest padding, which equated to roughly $4 per yard and that reduced the price to $280.

With any luck the back house will be finished this week.  Just in time: the decision on who rents the front house must be made.

If you liked that post, then try these...

Padding that resists kryptonite?? Now that is worth the money right there!!

Since you were paying a minimum for the carpet material, you went back to the display racks and picked out a higher grade of in-stock carpet that cost close to the material minimum, right?

Actually the math wasn’t adding up. If they supposedly charged me $200 for materials, that meant installation and was $40?

On my trip to HD tonight, I asked them to explain the bill to me. It appears I am dreaming or something but there is no minimum $200 charge on material. I thought for sure they told me that.

So it was $100 for carpet/padding then labor was $140 with measuring at $40.
