Ah the gems found if we just ask Lord Google.
I was wondering if a planning tool was available online. Many are but few are free. FloorPlanner.com is a freebie.
As can be expected, there are some limitations to the program. One was the default measurement in meters. For some reason, I thought the US was still using the english system. Convert to metric?
Flashback: 8th grade science class, Mr. Voss’ out-stretched nicotine stained finger "And now Cliff will tell us how many centimeters are in an inch."
"Pi." I proudly declare.
After a whole bunch of conversions, the back house was sketched out. At the very end did I find a button which switches from metric to english.
UGH
I are smart.
On seeing the "Share" tab, I high-fived myself. Now the world could see. The only problem: the dimensions didn’t export. Fine. Shift+Print Screen equals image. Click to see full size.
As the work continues on the back house, I’ll be referencing this drawing from time to time.

Why sand before painting? Well, it's not because I'm bored.

Thanks for the mention. FYI You can change your general settings to Imperial at the “My account” tab. This should show all your plans in Feet & Inches.
No Prob Jeroen. I do like your product and I’ll be using it for as long as I can. Thank you!
Just a quick question in this comment about the layout. Was there a conscious decision made to only allow access to the bathroom from the bedroom? I ask because I recently saw a similar floor plan on a property I was considering purchasing and thought someone was lacking in the planning department (not to knock your floor plan. It looks good). Is this the new trend in single bedroom apartments? Has the need for a master suite surpassed the need for general access to the bathroom?
Maybe it is the person in me that likes to entertain (and need a place to still be sloppy) but having guests need to go through my bedroom to get to the restroom seems wrong. I’ll admit that I tend to need a place to “dump” items when guests are approaching and the bedroom is usually that place.
On a separate note….it could be good for a single guy if he has a date over and she needs to use the restroom…..but I won’t go there
Great link, thank’s for posting it!
I will fwd it to some clients.
Patrick, believe it or nuts that’s how I bought the house. The same doorway leads to both the bedroom and the bathroom. However the bathroom does have it’s own door. Changing it is not an option.
Is this a trend? I don’t believe so. I think this is something indicative with these types of one bedroom houses. How much can we fit into a tiny space. At least the shower is in the bathroom and not the kitchen, unlike some places I’ve seen in NYC.
Speaking from SoCal, I believe women would be more impressed a guy had his own place versus having to have 3 or 4 roommates.
Benjamin, glad you like it! Share away!
