Touch Up
Brutal and unbearable.
During my brief tenure in Southern California, the heat has never, ever been as bad as it was this past week. Dancing along the edge of the 100 degree mark, the blistering heat made any kind of work that much more difficult and exhausting.
And thus the house was finished.
How the guys working in the yard, or even the attic, survived the heat is beyond me. But they did. And the house was finished.
Working side by side with the others, I declared the "work day" officially closed at 5 p.m. Only one person escaped this rule and that was the granite guy. He showed up late (nearly 5 hours late) and he needed to finish. It was nearly 7 p.m. when he walked out the door.
Ending the work week on a positive note was the arrival of some good friends. Braving the heat, we sat on the front porch sipping champagne. It was not a "house warming" party but rather a "Look what nearly broke Cliff’s will to live!"
What is left to do is those little things which I call "touch ups". For instance, there are some dings in the paint which need to be "touched up". Some of the trim needs to be "touched up". With the dust, clean clean clean. More than one wet swiffer will be in order.
It does feel good to have the house done. From here, it only takes a few hours here and there to get the house ready.
The ads are out. Let the showings begin!

Congratulations! Can’t wait to see the pictures!
Should be interesting to see what the prospective tenants say. Hope you get it leased before the weekend.
Quite a lot was done in a short time. I can’t wait to see the finished product ready to rent out.
Congratulations on the house!!! Feels good doesn’t it?
AI, I’m with you! I need tenants right away!
Engineer, fortunately the little stuff will only take a few hours here and there to get taken care of.
KM, it does feel good. It feels better to sleep! Those 18 to 20 hour days were beginning to catch up to me.
