HVAC Duct and Repair
You know that sickening feeling your stomach when you take your car to
the mechanic? Especially one who loves to prey on the innocent and
elderly? Without looking at your car, he can diagnose that the
transmission is shot, the engine needs a complete overhaul, and the
wind shield whipers are shot.
The first heater guy acted just
like that mechanic. Upon entering the house, I explained what had
transpired (here and here). Immediately, he declared the heating unit and ducting was no good. Everything would have to be redone. This was determined without looking at anything.
My stomach turned just like it turns at the garage.
His
diagnosis was difficult to accept. I could not acknowledge the heater
in the attic was useless. For that, a second opinion was in order.
The second HeaterGuy (from here) actually crawled around before coming to any
conclusions. Once finished, he said the heater was just fine; he could
work with it.
His bid reflected as much: nearly $2000 cheaper. And he’s a real contractor.
Installation of my new HVAC system is progressing nicely.
Since the AC compressor was stolen, the insurance company is paying for the replacement and installation. Half the bill just evaporated.
HVAC - Heating, ventilation and Air Conditioning. Now you know.
Compressor stolen? I must have missed that entry! When did this happen?
Matt, it happened when I took over the property. Jailbird decided to take it because he thought it was his. All the better for me!
