Heater Bling Bling

The command decision has been made.

A standard hot water heater shall be used.  No "tankless" system.

The difference in price between the two is only a few hundred dollars.  This, of course, is assuming the price of installation is the same.

While the thought of reducing my "carbon footprint" is appealing, I do not see a real benefit from going tankless.  I don’t live in either house.  I probably won’t live in either house ever again.  The tenants pay for their own gas (or electricity depending on which model).

With that being said, the few hundred dollars difference should remain in my checking account.  After all the experiences I’ve had, the preference is to keep the money rather than spend it.  If I’m going to spend it, it might as well be for something that is going to last and, most importantly, makes the most sense.

On resale, I doubt highly if a potential buyer would throw their arms around my neck, screaming "Oh thank you for the tankless hot water system!  You’re a wonderful man!" and then give me $50,000 above my asking price.

It could happen.  But I doubt it.

From a buyer’s perspective, it is my belief they would rather see a brand new, shiny, white hot water tank.  Wait . . . is there something Freudian in that statement?

WonderWoman has agreed to do the installation, which will happen sometime next week.
