Where it started . . .

Posted on September 1, 2006 - Filed Under Housing |

A few years ago, my mother gave me several photo albums.  In each album was the photos of my entire life.  From the first day home from the hospital to graduating college.  I pull these albums out every now and then.  It helps me remember where I’m from and how far I’ve come.

Today I’ve arranged a little photo album to share with you.  I look back at these photos of where I started and I’m truly amazed.  I believe it’s safe to say that my first project went off nicely.

That green still scares me.  There was industrial carpet on the floor and the field of vision stopped at the far wall.

Now the eye travels to the far corner of the house.  The house feels bigger.

This was my kitchen.  It was a sink, with less than 2 feet total of counter space.  That was it.

I obviously don’t have that problem anymore.

The former "Before Kitchen" room.  The kitchen was chopped in half for what I believe may have been some attempt at a dining area.

The short wall has been replaced with a Peninsula, which is great for entertaining.

The backside of the "Before Kitchen" room.  This door connected the kitchen area to the master bedroom.

Closing off the wall increased the amount of storage I could have.  And my giant "Frigo Americain" helps to hide whatever marks might be there.

The mirrors were attached to the walls with just screws.  Storage space was at an absolute minimum.  I still don’t remember the toilet seat being worn down to the point where the bear wood was exposed.  But the tenants were quite petty.  Maybe they stole the last one.

I was limited in what I could do with the bathroom.  The good news is the tile work was in great shape and didn’t have to be replaced.

Industrial Carpet was laid down over top of some black goo.

I want to sing that jingle "Mr. Clean Mr. Clean".

I still remember the day I took this photo.

All in all, this turned out to be a pretty cool place.

Everyone have a great weekend and I’ll see you Tuesday!

Howdy. Stellar job on the remodel. So how much do you stand to make on this one? When does it go on the market? Congrats!

Howdy Cheryl T. Thanks for the compliment. I’m not comfortable, talking about how much money I’ll make (or could make) on a deal. Much the same way I’m not comfortable talking about how much money I make with my salary. I will share with you; I will make good money on this. As far as when it goes on the market, I want it up within a week. My problem is the gas line. That problem is slower than dirt in getting fixed. Now I’m waiting for the city inspectors and they don’t work weekends. Grrrrr!!
