Blockage
Posted on July 20, 2006 - Filed Under Housing |
I’ve had 3 plumbers out.
Here’s where I’m at.
The second house has complete blockage in the line. Somewhere. The plumber with the most years of experience tells me the super large lemon tree next to my house has pushed one pipe out of alignment.
This means ripping up concrete.
This means another week.
This means I’m losing my sanity.
No, not really. Just more learning going on.
And the insurance doesn’t cover it! They pay for all the snaking in the world but that’s it. They won’t pay for any pipe-replacing or replacement.
The poor tenant is about to freak.

Hmm, that’s interesting. Plumber one went 150 feet and found no blockage. Plumber two went 50 feet and found a man- (er, woman-) made blockage but said the pipes ran the opposite direction of that lemon tree. Now plumber three says pipe shift due to said lemon tree.
I think you need to keep having plumbers over until at least two tell the same story!
I’d take Mikki’s advice. You know what I haven’t seen you mention here is if all of the drains are backed up or just the toilet? If the clog is downstream from the house, you should see the sewer backing up into the bathtub. If other drains are working in the house, then you know the clog can’t be outside.
Yeah, everything in the second house is completely blocked. Nothing works, nothing drains.
The plumbers are all in agreement that the giant lemon tree in my hard has “pushed” the pipes out of alignment. There’s still a small connection between the two, which allows the snake to get through. But it’s too small to allow the gunk to flow. The question that remains is where exactly the problem exists. And I won’t know that until we get a camera down there.
My morbid curiousity wants to actually see what’s in that pipe.
EEEWWW… be careful of what you wish for!
