Sources of Motivation

Posted on July 7, 2006 - Filed Under Philosophy |

It’s amazing.  Every time I start to get down, my daily "9 to 5" manages to motivate me to keep moving forward.

We have a software package that generates all kinds of useless TPS reports.  We’re talking hundreds.  This software package, of course, is riddled with problems.

Well, my boss has decreed that we must go through and check to make sure that all the hyperlinks this software package creates actually work.  That means that every day, I have to click on hundreds of hyperlinks.

Um. . . what?

This is the equivalent of going to CNN.com and clicking on every single news story link to make sure they all work.  Yes, we have that many reports.  And then some.

Suddenly, the pain of "non-motivated" contractors has left me.

If you liked that post, then try these...

“Uh, yeah…” Long sip from a coffee stained coffee mug. “We’re going to need you to come in on Saturday to … Uh… catch up on all the hyperlink clicking you didn’t quite finish…”
Turning to leave Clifford’s cubicle, “These TPS reports aren’t going to click themselves…”
Clifford Jumps to his feet, reaches out and grabs the coffee stained mug; quickly disarming his quarry and deftly bludgeons him with the disgusting sludge crusted pottery.
“I wonder if I should stop by for a visit with cabinet man on my way home”, he wonders as he steps over the unconsious form crumpled in front of his desk.
