Satisfaction

Sometimes, I am petty.
SFX: Cell phone rings.
Clifford: This is Clifford.
Cabinetman: Clifford, this is Cabinetman. How are you?
Clifford: I’m fine. How are you?
Cabinetman: Hey, we never got your final payment for the cabinets. Do you think you can swing by and drop it off?
Clifford: No. I’m having dinner with friends tonight in Huntington Beach.
Cabinetman: Oh. Well I could send José over to ge the check.
Clifford: I don’t think so.
Cabinetman: Why not?
Clifford: Well, every time you told me you were going to come over . . . you never did. Every time you said you would call me back, you never did. Why would I start believing you now?
Cabinetman: . . .
Clifford: Don’t worry. I put your check in the mail today. You should have it in the next day or two.
Have a good weekend! I certainly will . . . .

Excellent!
Although I have to ask… Did he finish? Did the backsplash get installed?
He finished the first part. I never did hear back from him about the backsplash. That’s alright. I’m moving forward. It’s all good!
You should change your attitude. People are MUCH more willing to go out of their way and do a great job if you give them just an ounce of respect.
You probably lied and haven’t even put the check in the mail…shmuck…
What comes around goes around…so watch out.
Yeah!
My handyman said he’d be here tomorrow at 10am. I’ll be lucky if he shows up at noon.
Just wondering… could Sharon be Cabinetman’s wife by any chance? It seems personal… and after all you went through!
Is he all done? I noticed that the backsplash wasn’t there either. Was that part of the job? It’s funny how they want their money as soon as they are done. Drop the check in the mail next Wednesday.
Matt, Mr. Kenric: The backsplash was extra. I somehow missed that in conversation with Cabinetman. After not receiving a call back, I went ahead and picked out a tile for backsplash.
Paty - Like you, I was surprised to read Sharon’s comment. Two things popped into my head. Either she hasn’t been reading my blog for long time OR she has no problems handing someone $10,000 only to have that someone spend the next month lying and ducking your phone calls. If it’s number 2, she’s definitely a better person than I am. And probably 80% of the public. Did your handyman ever show up?
Sharon - I read your comment. The only thing I can respond with is “what comes around, goes around”. That phrase not only applies to me but to you as well. I’m a big believer in karma. (read my post from 10/05/2005).
