Today

Posted on June 22, 2006 - Filed Under Rant |

It has come to my attention that there are, in fact, 366 days in a year.  Yes, I have looked at the calendar.  Yes, there are only 365 days listed.  But there is an 366th day that exists that is not on any calendar.

This day is called "Today".

The hired help goes by some calendar, that I have yet to find.  On this calendar exists a day called "today".

Clifford:  "When are you going to finish my cabinets?"
Cabinetman:  "Today"

Two days pass.  Nothing happens.

Clifford:  "You told me that you were going to finish the other day."
Cabinetman:  "I know.  And we’re going to finish today."

Two days pass.  Nothing happens.

So when is "Today"?  I use to think that "Today" meant . . . well today.  However I’ve come to realize that today does not, in fact, mean today.  Today is now some mysterious day that could be either in the future, or in the past.

We all know that there are holidays, like Christmas, that are on December 25th.  The fourth of July is on . . . well, July 4th.  Then there are some holidays that are elusive . . . such as Memorial Day.  Memorial Day is the last Monday in May.  Labor day is the first Monday in September.  It doesn’t have a defined date but it does have a day.

But I can’t find "Today".

If some enlightened soul is reading this entry, please let me know when Today is.  I’m absolutely at wits end about this.

I will share this with you.  When today does get here, I’ll be one happy man.

What does he have left to do and how much do you owe him? Hopefully you owe him alot more than the amount he has left to do. I’ve used the “let’s just call it even and I’ll get someone to finish the job”. That usually works for me.

Believe me, the thought of “let just call it even” crossed my mind. The cabinets are all being custom made and I don’t know all the details to get someone to finish it. I do believe that he is going to finish the job. He’s just going slower than dirt. He has to do the island, cabinet doors, and counter top.
