Sometimes

Sometimes, I find myself in a lull. People and circumstances just wear me down. This kitchen has been wearing on my nerves.
In these times, where my hand spends more time in my hair than on my keyboard, I sometimes wonder if I’ll make it through.
Right on cue, motivation arrives.
On the right side of this page, I keep a small picture of the Eiffel Tower under the heading "Objective". No, purchasing L’Tour Eiffel is not my objective. But having an apartment with a view of Alexandre "Gustav" Eiffel’s creation is.
Last week, Business Week wrote "Off the Beaten Via". For those of us pining to have vacation homes (or permanent homes) across the pond, this article has perfect timing. This put my entire vision of living in France right in front of me. With this thought:
"This is achievable."
I smiled.
Here are some of my favorite passages.
"You can find renovation projects such as a 200-year-old stone barn set on 2.5 acres in Tarn-et Garonne for less than $100,000. Fully modernized properties start at $250,000, while $1.3 million can buy a restored 16th century chateau set amid the vineyards of Lot-et-Garonne."
Amid the vineyards? Sign me up!
"If Italian is more your language and style . . . do-it-yourselfers can buy a totally unrenovated trullo for as little as $65,000. It is also possible to get a new three bedroom villa with sea views and a pool for under $300,000."
Three bedroom villa with sea views? Slap me with a frozen lasagna!
"Croatia’s version of Tuscany . . . [has] three-bedroom villas average about $310,000 and newly built apartments go for as little as $50,000."
Of course, my Rich Dad brain fired. "With $10,000 down, $40,000 is only $280/month with zero down. Rent it out for 6 months a year at $600/month vacation rental. You’ve paid the mortgage and taxes for the entire year."
Next to the magazine was a pile of mail. The first piece was from International Living.
Is this a sign?
