I appreciate the feedback on the kitchen. I went back to Cabinetman and asked him to make a couple of changes. Focusing on getting "gadgets" into the kitchen, I forgot to put my gourmet chef’s hat on and think about layout.
I hate Bobby Flay. He makes me want to get into a fight. And that fuzzy Emeril won’t
help me either. Into the shoes of Alton Brown I went and came up with the following design. There is a space between the fridge and the stove. A slider-rack will be installed there. The stove/oven/microwave will now be one complete unit.
I tried to get the kitchen into a "triangle" flow. What I mean by that is each major appliance is on an adjacent wall so traffic flows in a triangular fashion. With this design, I’m a little closer.
The next step is to meet with Cabinetman. He is going to have a 3-D drawing so we can see what it will actually look like. After that, we sign contracts and the work starts.

Very nice layout! I’ll have you design my new kitchen when we get around to remodeling.
Nice layout. If your cabinet guy is good, have him make your pantry with two layers of swing doors. Basically you’ll have shelves in the back, then a set of swingable shelves in front of them and then finally a set of shelves on the front doors. This really maxes out your space and looks cool when guests open the doors and find extra space.
