Non Paying Tenant

It appears that I have two new, non-paying tenants. Let’s start with new tenant number 1, whom I’ll call Grey.
Grey moved in about a week ago. I’m not sure exactly when because he just appeared one day. All I know is that one night, I woke up to the sound of scratching, coming from underneath the floor in the master bedroom. Every now and then, Grey would get a grip and pull really hard at . . . whatever and a large thud would follow. Then silence. Then more scratching.
Realizing that this wasn’t a dream, I made my way to the back window. But as soon as my foot hit my hardwood floor, the noise stopped. And it was a dead stop. No movement, nothing. I waited for nearly 30 minutes but to no avail. I returned to bed and fell asleep. An hour later, the scratching was back.
I found a hole the next day where a critter could access the underside of the house. My analytical mind told me that a cement block would thwart his nightly campaign. However this appears to have had the inverse effect. He is now trapped under the house. Since the block has been there several days, I can only assume that he’s super hungry. Dirt can only keep something alive for so long.
As I stated, this is day five. His scratching, contrary to popular belief, has serious disrupted my sleep and I’ve become a zombie. I thought about sending my man Rufus under the house to flush Grey out. But I’m afraid Grey will eat him. This morning, I consulted with a Vegetarian to find out the best way to handle this guy.
Today, I will evict his butt.

Is number two non-paying tenant rufus? Wasn’t he the spider? FYI, the link for rufus is showing as a mail link.
If rufus is the spider you’ll enjoy my receent post of Arachnid Wars on my site.
A joy to read your blog as always!
That’s hilarious! But, I’m a sucker for animals and can’t help but feel for the poor thing trapped under the house. Help the little guy please?–whatever the heck he is?
