Moving Day

. . . or not!

I arrived at the properties early with one purpose:  get the interior living room and bedroom painted so I could be physically living on the property before the end of the week.

In a mad house, I rushed to get the painting done.  With the help of a few friends and the handyman, the walls of the house are now coming together.  But thanks to the former tenants, that nasty green they picked out has continued to come through my paint.  We finished two coats today and will do a third tomorrow.  That should get rid of it.9d9da7ad2a4064b77f0a28651c390da2

This afternoon, Public Storage arrived with my two containers.  The driver, Hairplugs, walked over to where a group of us were standing.

Hairplugs:  Where do you want the containers?
Clifford:  In the house please.
Hairplugs:  No.  Where do you want the containers?
Clifford:  Um . . . in the house please.
Hairplugs:  The containers won’t fit in the house.
Clifford:  Aren’t you going to empty the containers and bring the stuff inside?
Hairplugs:  No.
Clifford:  Why not?
Hairplugs:  Because that’s extra.
Clifford:  Extra what?  I already paid for this.
Hairplugs:  You paid for delivery.  Not for unloading.  You’ll have to do that yourself.  Or it’ll cost you $300 more.
Clifford:  Just put the containers in front of the house.

I’ve absolutely had it with Public Storage.  I thought it would be a great idea to have them store my stuff but it has been a real nightmare.  They called with "Oh, we under-billed you." and then to turn around a week later and tell me that I’m late with payment.  And when I called to notify them of my change of address, they told me they couldn’t change it in their system.  Now who can’t change an address in a system?

Public Storage!  That’s who!

So my belongings are sitting in front of my house in two containers.

Fortunately the handy man felt sorry for me and offered to help unload the stuff.  I don’t have a lot so it shouldn’t take too long.

I’m slightly annoyed here.

One of the disadvantages of having dark counter-tops is that you can't really see anything that happens to be of a dark color.

I hate Home Depot and I found out one reason why.
