You reap what you sow

My handy man and I drove to the Contractor’s Warehouse in Long Beach. First, let me say that this place puts Home Depot to shame! Their selection of items isn’t as big but what they do have is sometimes half of what Home Depot charges.
On the way back to the houses, I made an off-hand comment about Mean Grandma exploding on me on Saturday. And that is when the journey down the rabbit-hole began.
"Well, let me tell you something Cliff . . ." My handy-man started.
Without going into deep details, it appears that all is not fun in the house that is Mean Grandma. It appears her husband, who is really nice, is also the laziest man on the face of the earth. He doesn’t have a job, has no interest in finding a job, and enjoys drinking beer. The son, 40 ouncer, doesn’t have a job, has no interest in finding a job, and enjoys drinking beer, cleaning his bicycle and listening to rap music. With Mean Grandma being the soul source of income, she has used every penny of her money to pay all their bills and has zero left over.
Their new home: A trailer park. And it’s not a nice one.
After having all that dumped on me, I said under my breath "I feel sorry for them."
My handyman said "Don’t. You reap what you sow."
He’s right.
While I do understand that there are forces that are completely out of our control, I realize that many of the things that happen to us are the direct result of the decisions that we make. I guess that’s a fancy way of saying that I believe in karma. Or "What goes around, comes around."
The handy-man also told me that his father, on Sunday, went over to my house and yelled at 40-ouncer to turn that loud nasty rap-music off. It appears that his father is in need of "cultural sensitivity" training as well.
Now I’m onto that nasty tree stump.
