The houses

I pulled up in front of the houses. My first thought was "These houses are the crappiest houses on the street."
It is two houses, both rentals. They have been rentals for a long time (around 20 years) so they’ve seen better days. The yard is filled with garbage and kid’s toys. There’s a dead car sitting in the driveway.
On driving around the cul-de-sac, the neighborhood looks good. Only one house has the bars on the windows and that house is really old.
I picked up my cell phone.
Agent: "What do you think?"
Clifford: "They’re perfect. I’ll take them."
Agent: "I already submitted the offer."
It appears that the first offer had already been accepted by the seller. But the lady extending the offer backed out at the last minute. What the Real Estate Agent was hoping to do was substitute her offer with mine. But with five other offers on the plate, I’m not sure if that will transpire. The Real Estate Agent told me that it is the seller’s choice on who he will sell to. I have to sell myself as the best candidate.
Can you believe that?
This is not what I’m use to all. But with all of our offers being the same, I guess this is what happens. And hopefully the Real Estate Agent can work some magic behind the scenes to make me look good.
If anyone can pull this off, it’s him.
