Lenders, Lenders and more Lenders

I asked Carolina about lending options. I was surprised that he didn’t know a lot about lenders. He handed me a business card of someone who he said he had luck with before in the past. This lender is located in Maryland.
Maryland?
I got worried. A real estate agent in California only knows a lender in Maryland? I asked Carolina how long he had been doing real estate. He’s brand new. Retired from his own business, he picked up real estate as an alternate source of income. He retired from the Air Force, many moons ago. After that, he went into the jewelry business which he eventually sold. And now he has moved into real estate?
That has me scared.
He lives in a condo.
Should I hold that against him? I guess it’s not important. As long as I follow Rich Dad’s advice, I’m set.
I start my quest to find lenders. Every time I call, they want to run my credit. That annoys me. But I’m sure California has something.
